Together we can…

How You Can Help

We are fundraising to create a documentary (that we have already started filming).

The documentary will highlight not only the 100 mile world record, but it will share touching stories of individuals who have decided to take responsibility for their own health,  to reduce their risk and do everything they can to prevent cancer. These are powerful stories that can truly inspire others to follow a similar path to health and happiness.

In order to make this documentary possible, we need your help to fund it. This documentary could save hundreds of lives, so we must make it happen!

We have started to document the journey: interviews, teasers, etc will be up on our website

We must reach our goal before the end of April, so please share this on your social media, with your friends and family.

Let’s make it happen!
Thank you!

Together we can Reduce our risk of Cancer

According to the American Institute for Cancer Research (AICR), nearly 50% of the most common cancers can be prevented.

Although, many measures have been implemented to reduce the exposure to carcinogens for firefighters and our community, very little to none has been done to address the role that diet and lifestyle play in the prevention of cancer.

Our goal for this event is to empower our community to make lifestyle changes that reduce their risk of cancer.

The 2013-2014 Stats by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention show that the percent of adults aged 20 and over with overweight or obesity was 70.7% and a recent survey was conducted showing that 67 to 77% of career firefighters in the US are overweight or obese. This in turn paves the way for cardiovascular disease and cancer to be the number 1 and 2 killers among firefighters and the general population.

The choices we make every day affect our chances of getting cancer.

The choices we make every day affect our chances of getting cancer.

Our goal is to promote the 10 simple Cancer Prevention Recommendations from the American Institute for Cancer Research and the World Health Organization, so that we don’t leave any stone unturned when it comes to cancer.

The Event: 100 miles in firefighter gear

The 100 mile RUN will be ran by Gwen (co-founder of Plant-Positive and volunteer Firefighter) and supported by the community on an out and back route from the Sandpoint Fire Station to the Dover Fire Station.

The event is not only for firefighters; we want to help our community by promoting simple actions that we can all implement to reduce our risk of cancer.

The event will be a world-record attempt- to be the first firefighter to run 100 miles in full firefighter turnout gear!

We invite you to join our event and help out in any way you can.

This will be a great opportunity to join forces to achieve greatness, and to fight cancer!

We are currently seeking partners, sponsors and volunteers to help make this event extremely meaningful and we hope you join us.

Location: Sandpoint, Idaho. USA

Date: April 28, 2018.

The event will be held for Charity in partnership with the Sandpoint Fire Department.

“I had been a volunteer firefighter in France and have been volunteering here in the USA for a few years and I have seen the disastrous impact that a poor diet has had on this country.

This 100 mile world record attempt is close to my heart, as a firefighter and ultra runner it will allow me to do what I do best while getting a great message out – Plant Powered!”
